Pilgrimage Tour: Shrines of Italy

Day 1Rome
Upon arrival at Rome APT, meet our ISCRA Representative (optional). Transfer to the hotel for check-in procedure. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 2Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. This day is dedicated to visit the most significant religious places in Rome. Start with a guided tour of the major churches of the city: see the Basilica of St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran, stop at the Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) and visit the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon entrance to St. Callixtus or St. Sebastian Catacombs and visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 3Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Vatican, the smallest sovereign state in the world ruled by the Pope, to attend Papal Audience (only on Wednesday according to Papal schedule). Following the Papal Blessings, have some free time for religious shopping. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon continue discovering Vatican City: visit the Vatican Museums, see the majestic Sistine Chapel and enter to St. Peter's Basilica. If time permits, enjoy a short panoramic tour of Rome with an outside view of Coliseum. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 4Rome - San Giovanni Rotondo
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo. Stop on the way for lunch. Upon arrival, meet your local guide to visit all main places connected to Father Pio: stop at the Church of Our Lady of Grace (Santa Maria delle Grazie) where you can see Father Pio’s tomb, his cell and confessional and the crucifix from which he received the stigmata. Behind Santa Maria delle Grazie, you can find the new St. Pio Church, designed by the architect Renzo Piano. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.
Day 5Lanciano – Loreto – Assisi
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Lanciano, where you will stop to visit the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle on your own. Lunch at restaurant. Continue to Loreto to visit the Sanctuary of the Holy House which Basilica was built around the small Shrine of the Holy House of Nazareth. This was the house where Lady Mary lived and legends say that it was miraculously transferred there from Nazareth. Proceed to Assisi. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Assisi.
Day 6Assisi – Pisa
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide and visit the impressive St. Francis Basilica. See the crypt with his tomb, the reliquary and be astonished by the amazing masterpieces representing the St. Francis life made by famous medieval artists like Giotto and Cimabue. Continue to St. Claire Church, where you can see the incorrupt body of the founder of the Poor Clares Order. End the tour at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, built to protect the small Porziuncola Chapel. Local lunch. Proceed to Pisa. Have some free time for souvenirs shopping around the Square of Miracles and take a picture under the famous Leaning Tower. Like the Roman Colosseum, it is one of the seven wonders of the medieval world that is located in Italy. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Pisa or Montecatini Terme.
Day 7Pisa – Venice
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Venice Mestre. After lunch at restaurant, board a private ferry boat to reach Venice. Enjoy a walking city tour to see all highlights of “La Serenissima” such as The Doge’s Palace, St. Mark Basilica (entrance depends on time at disposal/queues/special mass) and its Square and the Bell Tower. See the famous Bridge of Sighs and experience the beauty of this amazing city from the canals on a private gondola ride. Return to Tronchetto Bus Parking. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Mestre or Padua.
Day 8Padua – Montichiari – Milan
Breakfast at the hotel. Walking towards the Basilica of St. Anthony with a guide, you will admire the exterior views of the Abbey of Santa Giustina, the Botanical Garden and the statue of Galileo Galilei while listening to the explanations about the construction of the Basilica and St. Anthony’s life. Entrance to St. Anthony Basilica, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Saint’s tomb. Lunch at restaurant. On the way to Milan, you will stop in Montichiari to visit the Sanctuary of Rosa Mystica. It was built where, according to the testimony of the mystic Pierina Gilli, some Marian apparitions occurred in the second half of the 19th century. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Milan.
Day 9Milan
Breakfast at the hotel. Discover the Italian northern Capital with a professional English speaking guide: you will see the “Castello Sforzesco”, „La Scala“ Theatre (all viewed from outside), the world’s oldest shopping mall Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the impressive Piazza del Duomo with its Cathedral, the biggest and greatest example of Gothic architecture in Italy (entrance included). Lunch at restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Milan.
Day 10Milan
After breakfast transfer to the APT according to your flight details.
