Day 1Portovenere
Arrival in Portovenere, a beautiful seaside village with the typical colorful Ligurian houses, located on the east coast of Liguria, named after the ancient Roman Goddess of Love. Check- in. Visit the medieval historic center of Portovenere by yourself. We suggest you to visit the churches of San Pietro and San Lorenzo, the Grotta Arpaia, also known as Byron's Grotto, so called in honor of the English poet, who liked to stop here to reflect, admire the nature and read his poems. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 2A Hike around the Palmaria Island with picnic
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet the professional hiking guide at the lobby and start your private hiking tour. Get the water taxi from Portovenere to Palmaria island, landing at Terrizzo, just across the narrow channel. The Palmaria island, along with the Cinque Terre and Portovenere, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a small island that has preserved its natural beauty intact. Year round, hikers and nature lovers visit this place to enjoy the cliffs of the Cinque Terre coast and its wild habitats. The trail is of medium difficulty, for people trained in hiking.

Today you will hike around the perimeter of the island in an anticlockwise direction. The walk will take about 4 hours including a pleasant picnic under the shade of Maritime trees. During your hiking, you will walk through a Mediterranean ecosystem, you'll pass an attractive mix of fields, trees and rocky areas, fortresses and abandoned old military buildings, you will see several large Portoro marble quarries – this precious marble was quarried from Palmaria by the Romans and used widely in imperial buildings and villas. Along the way you may encounter some wild goats, the only noises you will perceive they will be those of the sea, the wind and the seagulls. In the summer time you will have the possibility to swim in the crystalline water of secluded coves. Return to Portovenere by water taxi. Free time in Portovenere. Overnight.
Day 3Cinque Terre / Lerici
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time. Why not spending a full day discovering the beauty of the Cinque Terre? Visit the famous five fishing villages by yourself by boat or by train. Boat tours to the Cinque Terre departure right from Portovenere at scheduled time during the summer according to the weather conditions, or you can reach them by train from La Spezia. If you already visited the Cinque Terre before, we suggest you a nice alternative – get a boat trip to Lerici. On request ISCRA can book a private guide for you (by extra charge). Overnight.
Day 4Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. Departure.
